sharon by subhankar-biswas sharon by subhankar-biswas
early pencil sketch. i used one HB pencil to do this (in those days i didn't even know that pencils existed in different shades!), using varying pressure on the paper to get the shade variations.
the pic is actually of sherilyn fenn, but the newspaper review i referred to labelled her as sharon stone, hence the name.

thanks for the kind comment, romeo. and no, i don't mind.
i'm a creative person. i've done (and keep doing) different things every once in a while: drawing, writing, comics, documentaries & films, script-writing, photography, art-direction, stage plays, sculpture, carpentry, artisan crafts, acting, modelling, teaching...and even singing and dancing (this is an incomplete list). but if you're asking about bread-and-butter stuff, i do graphic design (book/journal covers, logos, posters, brochures, etc.) for a select few institutions.
i am lucky to do things that i love to do, so it (usually) doesn't feel like 'work'. :)

Beautiful.
When I first saw your picture I was like: "Funny, this Sharon person looks like Sherilyn..."
You've managed to capture that Sherilyn Fenn look I love so much about her.

Especially the eyes, eyebrows and hair are perfectly her. (Does that even make sense? ^^")
I just recently redid an old drawing of her, but it didn' turn out as interesting as yours. ^^"
Meh, at least it shows my progress made between 2006 and 2010. :D

Beauty in simplicity, it was your hands that created her, not technology...pure craftmanship to use just 1 pencil. Wonder how yo got it that black...

i'm sincerely touched by your comment, frenk. makes all the effort i put into it worthwhile. i got the different grades in shade by furiously scratching/gently tickling the paper to get the depth i wanted.

btw, your pencil-work is lovely, too!

so true, so true.

...but then again, i'm no expert on art. i somehow learned the ropes by myself, and am constantly trying to bring myself up to the level of these fantastic artists here on dA (incl YOU, frenk!)

well then let's shake hands, only ropes I have are me and me...
and of course as I said, lots of tips from DA.
But, it takes a pain in the heart, to make the drawing live...
