Kaali is another form of Shakti (woman seen in her divine form). she is Shiva's wife, invoked to get rid of the evil that plagued the earth. but once she started killing, she lost control of her berserker rage, and became unstoppable...until Shiva himself lay down in her path. when her foot trod upon Shiva's chest, she immediately came to her senses, and bit down on her tongue (a kind of "ohmigod, what have i done?!?"). since then, she is represented with her tongue out. this is my interpretation (my first abstract on dA!)

chalk and charcoal on textured board. it's huge, and the photo came out bad, so i had to edit it a bit in photoshop.
